Spiritual Baths: Your New Self-Care Go-To
Ice baths, bath bombs, spas, oh my! Believe it or not, there's a new bath ritual in town: the spiritual bath. While combining aspects of ancient practice and your personal needs, the spiritual bath is sure to be the latest self-care treat. This type of bath is not only meant to cleanse your physical body; however, it calls for the individual to be spiritually and emotionally present to manifest and enhance your innate psychic power. Mixing candles, oils, salts, and crystals personal to you, you can create your unique psychic experience—in the comfort of your bathtub!
Step One: Prepare Your Bath
Preparation for your spiritual bath is essential and should not be overlooked! First, go into your bathroom and clean and declutter your space, leaving it polished, calm, and fresh for your ritual. A messy bathroom is not the ideal environment for a spiritual experience, so be sure your space is perfected for your bath. Next, rinse your body just as you did your bathroom before moving forward with your ritual.
Step Two: Gather Your Unique Materials
This next step is unique to every individual and their intentions with their spiritual bath. For example, if your goal is to cultivate creativity, you may want to collect specific stones and oils such as citrine and lemon oil, or if you intend to work on spiritual healing, you may reach for quartz and frankincense oil. This second and essential step may require some time to meditate on your intention, and the decisions surrounding your oil, stone, and candles will fall into place. While mixing oils or herbs into your bathwater, try filling the tub 3 inches with hot water and then adding your materials before filling up the rest of your bath.
Step Three: Finish Setting Up Your Ambiance and Say Your Mantra
While your oils and herbs are marinating in the bath, place your gems, stones, and candles around the tub. Light your candles, smudge with sage, and do anything else you need to finish your desired ambiance. Saying and repeating your mantra is the last thing you do before dipping into the tub. Think intentionally about what you need with this moment of calm, rest, and rejuvenation, and incorporate that into your special message. After you feel settled with your intention, it is time to take your bath.
Step Four: Bathe and Rest
Slowly lower yourself into your bath. Be sure to have as much of your body submerged underneath the water as possible, for as long as possible. Then, it is time to give into your senses: smell your oils and herbs, feel each part of your body soften in the water, and pay attention to the sensations and emotions that arise when you let go in the experience. After at least 20 to 30 minutes in your bath, slowly transition into journaling or further meditation to conclude your spiritual bath. Again, this will vary by person, but the most essential part of this experience is not to rush!
Our physical and spiritual well-being can be placed on the back burner more times than we'd like to admit. So be sure to incorporate the transformative and healing powers of the spiritual bath in your self-care routine. You won't regret the results!
